ECAC-SIDA NewsThe ECAC-SIDA Rookie Committee is in search of candidates for the 2006 Bill Esposito Memorial Award. Each year ECAC-SIDA recognizes a graduating college senior who wishes to pursue a career in the athletic communications field. The award was created by ECAC-SIDA to honor and perpetuate the memory of one of the true patriarchs of the sports information profession. Bill Esposito was the sports information director at St. John’s University in New York for 25 years and was past-president of ECAC-SIDA, serving in that capacity in 1972-73. He received the organization’s Irving Marsh Award in 1973 and was inducted into the CoSIDA Hall of Fame in 1984. He also received CoSIDA’s prestigious Arch Ward Award in 1984. Mr. Esposito passed away in September, 1995. Interested candidates should submit a completed nomination form, cover letter, resume, and letter of recommendation from their SID to Bill Gorman, ECAC-SIDA Rookie Committee Chair, at Wentworth Institute of Technology by March 1, 2006. The Esposito Award winner will receive a $500 stipend and will be recognized at the 2006 ECAC-SIDA Workshop in Oneonta, N.Y. As it is the time of year where you are looking to hire interns, graduate assistants, assistant SID’s, or even if your school is looking to fill an SID position, I would like to remind you of one of the great benefits of being a member of ECAC-SIDA—the Jobs Center. You can post your positions, free of charge, and they will remain posted of http://www.ecacsida.com until the positions have been filled. Additionally, any job seekers can have their resumes posted on our site, for the same bargain price of FREE! While the standard resume posting is for three months, I will leave their resume on the site until the end of June. Both job postings and resumes should be e-mailed as Word
