 Michigan State University Sports Information Internship Opportunity:  MSU is now accepting applications for a nine-month internship opportunity in the Sports Information Office.  MSU is strongly committed to achieving excellence through cultural diversity within the workplace and within the intercollegiate athletics profession through the development of essential skills acquired through this internship.

OVERVIEW: MSU is a member of both the Big Ten Conference and the Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA), and sponsors 25 varsity sports. Qualified candidates will be challenged to perform at a high level, which will prepare the selected candidate for professional employment in the sports information field. The intern will assist in all daily operations of the sports information office and will be directly responsible for working with several sports, and will directly supervise students on other sport assignments. The individual will also assist with game-day duties at football, hockey, and men's and women's basketball.  The selected candidates will also aid in creating content and help further develop the initiatives in multimedia (podcasts, video previews/highlights, etc) on the department's official website, www.msuspartans.com.  Michigan State regularly hosts and participates in Big Ten and NCAA Championship events, providing the successful candidate several opportunities to gain championship experience. Other duties as assigned by the Sports Information Director.   

QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree with a MINIMUM of two years experience as a sports information student assistant or intern (undergraduate or graduate); excellent writing and editing skills; computer knowledge (word processing, statistical programs, desktop publishing); must be able to manage multiple tasks and a schedule that includes long hours/weekends and some travel with teams.   The MSU Sports Information office uses Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, Stat Crew Software, and CSTV Online's Netitor program; previous experience with these programs is preferred.

COMPENSATION: A nine-month contract with a weekly compensation of $455/week; no fringe benefits will be provided for this position.  

START DATE:  The selected candidate would begin on or around August 15, 2008.
