Job Postings/InternshipsJOHNS HOPKINS UNIVERSITY • SPORTS INFORMATION INTERNSHIP • Johns Hopkins University is seeking applicants for the position of Sports Information Intern for the 2008-09 school year. Johns Hopkins is a Division III institution with Division I men's and women's lacrosse programs. The intern will serve as a full-time assistant sports information director, assisting in the day-to-day coverage of all 26 intercollegiate varsity programs. The intern will serve as the primary contact for several sports, which may include soccer, field hockey, volleyball, water polo, cross country, basketball, track, fencing, wrestling, baseball, crew, and tennis. Primary responsibilities include: designing and writing of brochures and media guides, writing press releases, compiling team statistics and records, reporting to conference offices, assisting with game day and press box operations and various other duties. A bachelor's degree is required, preferably in the field of journalism or communications. Candidates should have previous experience working in a sports information office, have strong writing and communication skills, be proficient with word processing and desktop publishing software, and possess a solid understanding of college sports. Experience in using Macintosh systems, Microsoft Word, InDesign, Microsoft Excel and the Internet required. Knowledge of stat crew software is helpful, but not required. Compensation is $17,000 for the year (August 1, 2008 - May 31, 2009).
