Canisius College, a Jesuit college in Buffalo, NY, invites applications for the position of Assistant Director of Athletic Communications. This 10-month position reports directly to the Director of Athletic Communications and can be renewed for a second year. Canisius College sponsors 16 NCAA Division I athletic teams which compete in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC), with the exception of men’s ice hockey, which competes in Atlantic Hockey, and synchronized swimming, which competes in the ECAC.

Will assist in management of the external media at athletic events. Bachelor's degree required. Writing experience and a knowledge of AP style required. Experience with Macintosh OSX, InDesign, Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Stat Crew and web design/HTML preferred, but not necessary. Must be willing to travel. Evening and weekend hours will be required. Position will work with field hockey or volleyball and women’s ice hockey and assist with men’s ice hockey as well as other sports to be designated. Graduate Assistantship - Bloomsburg  (01/15/08)
The graduate assistants will assist the SID with coverage of 17 Division II and one Division I (wrestling) varsity sports. Duties include, but are not limited to, writing and editing media guides, statistical/event management, supervision of student workers, Website maintenance, conference reporting, assist with sports marketing, and day-to-day office duties. The graduate assistants will be required to work many of the hours associated with the sports information profession (averages 25-30 hours per week), including nights and weekends.

Johns Hopkins is a Division III institution with Division I men's and women's lacrosse programs. The intern will serve as a full-time assistant sports information director, assisting in the day-to-day coverage of all 26 intercollegiate varsity programs.

Candidate will have Bachelor’s degree in Sport Management, Communications, Journalism, or related field, and undergraduate experience in intercollegiate athletics. Demonstrated knowledge of computer applications such as PageMaker, InDesign, Photoshop, HTML, web design/editing, and Stat Crew Automated Scorebook for basketball, soccer, ice hockey, baseball, and softball is essential for application to be considered. Responsible for administrative aspects for a minimum of 6-7 varsity sports under the supervision of the Director of Sports Information, and within the overall public relations effort of the college.
