Graduate Assistants
American International College is currently accepting
applications for the position of Sports Information Graduate
Assistant for the 2008-09 academic year. AIC is a Division II
institution in Springfield, Massachusetts, sponsoring 22 varsity
sports, including a Division I men's ice hockey program.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will assist in all aspects of
publicizing and promoting AIC's athletics program, which includes
writing press releases, producing media guides and recruiting
brochures, reporting to the NCAA and conference offices, keeping
statistics during games, updating the official athletics website
(www.aicyellowjackets.com) maintaining historical archives, and
other duties as assigned. He/she will serve as the primary contact
for AIC's Division I men's ice hockey program, and several other
sports as assigned. Availability to travel and work nights and
weekends is required.
Qualifications
Candidates must have a bachelor's degree in journalism,
communications, sport management or a related field preferred.
Previous experience in sports information/media relations or a
related field is preferred. Candidates must possess strong oral and
written communication skills. Experience with desktop publishing
(Adobe PageMaker/InDesign and Photoshop) The Automated
Scorebook/Stat Crew and website maintenance skills are preferred,
but not required
Compensation
Pending acceptance to AIC's master's program, the successful
candidate will receive graduate tuition and course-related fees,
books, room and board. The position is a nine-month appointment for
two years beginning in mid-August 2008.
